Left side no A/C

All,
did a search on the blend door issue for my brother. He has the thunking sound and during the search I see there is more than one blend door. Upper & lower doors but I didn't see his problem described.
He has great AC in back and on passenger side. It's an 09 EB Expy with the temp controls for each side. I do hear the clunking but why only effecting the drivers side? It blows hot no matter the setting. Upper, lower, defrost while the passenger side blows icy cold.
Any thoughts, tips, ideas would be appreciated. I'd like to know what I'm in for before pulling the dash.
Thanks,
Shov

With the dual zone controls you have a temperature blend door for each side in the front, the one on the driver side is broken in the full hot position.

Just as alwaysfords41 said, your drivers' side blend door is broken. I just had the same issue a few months ago, where the drivers side always blew hot air. Unfortunately, the drivers side blend door is the one clear at the bottom of the dash and most difficult to get to. I ended up taking mine to the dealership to get it fixed. The actual part isn't that expensive, just a pain to get to and replace. Good Luck

To get to the door in question, how deep do I need to go? I saw a video where I could pull the radio and come in from the glovebox but this is on the other side.
Is there a recommended route?

Unfortunately, I think that the proper way to get to and replace this blend door is to remove the dash...however that being said, when the dealership replaced mine they said that they didn't remove the dash..so go figure. Perhaps they did like this video shows. If you are going to tackle this yourself, it might be worth a shot to try it this way. I'll take a look at my repair manual later today and see what it says as well.
