AC one side warm other side cold?
AC one side warm other side cold?
2002 limited with 150k
the ac was blowing HOT, I recharged it and now driver vents blow warm and passenger side blow cold while both temps are set to 60,
there is also a clicking noise in the back driver side in the rear ac box...........
what at is the cause f this and how to fix? I have heard “blend door” but I don’t know what that is to fix

the BLEND DOOR is a plastic door inside the air duct that moves with an electric motor. At one end you get 100% cold air, at the other you get 100% HOT air... The "door" is positioned part way in between to BLEND the air to the temp you want. I believe you have a "DUAL SYSTEM" that has two doors, one for the passenger and one for the drivers side............ The CLICKING you hear is the motor turning a small gear box that is connected to the door. Door is trying to position itself, but either the door has failed on the shaft, or the gear box teeth are stripped........ Im not sure how to access the DOOR on the drivers side. Look under the dash or behind the radio / console and listen for the CLICK.... that's the spot.
thanks-
2 separate issues tho-
1. the blend door may be the issue with the front compartment(dash)
2. the clicking noise is in the back rearmost area. I assume I just start taking the large box apart to see what I see.
the dash issue? not sure where to start......

You REALLY should be very specific about what is present as far as your system's configuration, but...
1. IF you have rear factory air, then you have a failed rear system blend door actuator.
2. If you have front DUAL controls and one side does not control temperature properly, then there is usually an issue with that side's blend door actuator, its control electronics, or a mechanical issue with that blend door.

sorry-
02 limited
it has rear heat/air and the black box on the driver side makes a loud clicking noise but blows cold.
it has dual zone front heat- no noises but driver side is warm and passenger side is cold. I can get driver side to go hot but not cold when set to 60

This hvac system is problematic, everything is plastic and tends to break. This can be a very difficult and expensive area to work on. Just replacing the front blend door is a pita. What you may also find is that the doors within the system ( that direct air to different areas, i.e. defrost, floor and main vents) are in some way broken. The pic here shows a broken piece off one of those doors that rendered my defrost function useless. You will have to get creative to repair this. When I did mine parts were no longer available so I had to repair what I had. You could possibly find something in a junkyard but for all the work it will take to make a swap it may not be worth it. You could also replace the entire system, which is still available but is cost prohibitive. There are ways to remove the center section of the hvac without removing the dash, which is a whole other can of worms.
Good luck
