Hi i have a 2007 f350 6.0 and it was running fine. I parked it in my driveway for a couple of months and then went down one day to start it. The first day it started but the second day i went down it wouldn't start. it would crank but wouldn't fire up. I changed the oil, repaired the FICM and still got nothing. Then i took a generic scanner and got the code p2285. I replace the ICP but still no start. I have also changed both batteries. I'm not getting any codes right now either. Does anyone know what is going on? any help is appreciated. It has around 229,000 miles
What pressure is the ICP while cranking? You try unplugging the ICP and starting? You need 500PSI to start, crank and cam sync needs to be 1, not 0 and the starter needs 150+ rpm.
If pressure is low, you have a leak in the HPO system. Check the upper fuel bowl as well. Have an OEM oil cap and filter?
If the truck is making enough pressure, a failed ICP won't keep it from running. Pull the IPR valve and verify its not clogged and functioning correctly. If pressure is still low, you have a leak. STC fitting, dummy plugs or standpipe.... you'll need an air test.
thanks for all the replies and help. The icp gets up to 2000 psi while cranking, the upper fuel bowl fills with fuel, the oil filter cartridge also fills with oil while cranking. the ficm sync gets to 1 after a couple of seconds of cranking. I believe the rpm is good also but can check that. the oil pressure gauge in the cluster also goes up. i will have to call my friend with a scanner to make sure about the rpm but I will pull the ipr and check it. The ipr got up to 85% duty cycle while cranking. is that good? also the ficm was repaired not long ago. icp volts were at .15 with key on and around .8 while cranking. Thanks once again for the replies
The IPR should never get to 85%. It's trying to adjust for lack of oil pressure as determined by the ICP.
To Watson's point, pull the IPR and inspect for tears or clogs.
There are also you tube videos on how to test.
I had a failed IPR with no codes. But my symptoms were a little different. I doubt it's a pressure issue, because normally if there is a leak you will have a hot no start, not a cold no start unless it's a major leak or pump failure. That IPR screen needs looked at and the IPR needs tested, that 85% cycle on that IPR is a red flag. good luck, and keep us posted.
yep ill let u guys know with any new updates and if i find anything. Ill probably get time later this week to pull the ipr and check it. Is it easier to pull from the top or bottom? Thanks for all the help
