I need help! No start

I am stranded at a campground in western nc. Truck ran fine no problems symptoms at all until I jumped back in it and nothing! It lights up but will not even try turning over. I cleaned battery terminals tried jumping it and nothing. Is it the starter? Cps? Any help would be appreciated thanks

If the shift lever is sloppy try moving it around or into neutral. Neutral start safety switch could be loose. My old Lincoln required some real finagling to get started.

I think the 2001 has fender mounted starter solenoid, look to see if a cute cuddly forest rodent nibbled a wire.

The two bolts under the steering column holding it to the dash like to loosen up and cause the shifter to become sloppy.

*I still do a lot of things the old fashioned way.*

***Safety, safety, safety.*** Jump start it on its own power***
This means you and a buddy or more

Take a piece of wire several inches long or longer with ends exposed.
Have someone in the cab in control. You crawl under the truck, get to the starter where the trucks wires are, touch one end to the small wire, touch the other end to the cable from the battery (it will spark/arc - that is normal). The starter will spin and the engine fire up (start).

Now the interior lights will not cut off and it's killing my battery, the linkage would not do that would it? I have adjusted the linkage still no go, seems like everything is tight

Watched a YouTube video of a guy fixing the problem . He found his missing torx screw in his insulation and mine was there too, put in back in and it's shifting into park now

Yeah it was the screw out of the linkage that fell into the insulation cover. Everything is good now, thanks guys
