Correct. No horn. Lights, dinging.

Do you have a test light by chance. Maybe the alternator wire is loose or missing I'm assuming its there since you didn't mention the dash light being on. All ground wires good PSide to frame and firewall DS to block?

Checked all of the above again. All seems ok. Battery terminals are a little loose but no juice when I try to twist them.

I don't recall the year of your truck, does it have the fender mounted starter solenoid?

On my 02 Ex, I was troubleshooting batteries and learned the small extra cable on the driver's side positive terminal powers all lights, dingers, probably PCM, etc.

Maybe you can check this, if it is the same?

In the pic above, there is one extra cable on the positive terminal, now removed (powered a massive amp from PO)- the one with the inline fuse.

I had removed the other small cable today as a test and the whole truck was "dead". Learn mode "on"

Hope this helps!

Another thought....

Did it die when you stepped on the brake pedal, or when you tried to shift? Maybe you did both at the same time, cannot tell...

If I start mine with the remote starter and forget to put the key in the ignition, it dies instantly when I put my foot on the brake.

Do you have a remote starter or extra alarm? If so, kill switch under the hood.

Else, there is a master kill switch somewhere I read about....

Have you removed the bowl heater plug? If it shorts, it shuts down the truck (blows a fuse, I think someone mentioned?)

C'mon, guys, let's get this fellow home!

Not certain but I believe it died as I put it in drive.
No remote start. No alarm. Did not check the bowl heater plug.

What a pisser!

Finally home, but without my truck again.
Dude at the dealer that has been handling my claim brought me a loaner Focus and road with my truck on the flatbed 200+ back to ABQ. $1000 tow.
While looking around trying to figure out whats going on I found a list of ****ty repairs and charred parts that I didn't catch on initial inspection when I picked it up. (some things I saw but figured I would just fix them myself when I got home)
They promised to have her fixed next week and claims dude will drive it up to Denver and take their Focus back.
We will see.

Charred parts? Big honkin' amp? Blanky repairs? Ugh... the PO sounds like another DIYer that doesn't log on to the forums to get good input.
