I picked up an AOD from a local boneyard the other day and I am trying to confirm which transmission it is. Numberdummy has not been on the board for a few days, so he may be unavailable. I was told that it came from a '93 F150 behind a 302, and the parts of the tag I can decipher pretty much confirm that but there are some parts I can't find the decode for.
PKB (AOD truck) BF ???
0289 (Serial number) 7L24 (should be date code but different)?????
F3TP AA
F3 (93) T (Truck) P ?? AA ??
From that and other sites I believe your tranny's P/N would be: F3TP-7006-AA
I wasn't looking for a part number (7006 I believe is the transmission Case #) but trying to decipher this transmission itself. I know that the PKB is an AOD for a truck (pickup or van), the BF indicates the model of truck and the 0289 is the serial number (I'm not sure if the stray 7 is supposed to be part of it). The L24 should indicate Nov 24, but the F3 represents 1993. I thought the 93 represented 1993 year, but perhaps it's the 1993 model, as Nov 24, 1993 should have been a 94 model.
I also know that the T represents that it was built for the Truck division, but not sure of the P. The AA represents a 'change' in the transmission, but I don't know what change.
EDIT: Just found the P is Engineering component (Automatic Transmission)
OK, here are the pics.. I know that the later model truck units had the larger bands and were more heavy Duty than the earlier models, but some of the 92-93 AOD's had the wider range gearing, and I think that some of those codes may determine if this transmission has it.

Just like with our old parts, the F3 is the first year for that model of AOD, not the actual year of manufacture. It's an engineering number.

Oh, I see what your saying, so this is the last revision as 1993 was the last year of the AOD. But I'm still trying to determine if it's the 'wide range', i believe that the AA might determine that.
