my tow mirrors are in, currently can't roll coal, but being that i am straight piped (ghetto for now until i get my MBRP kit), it does sound like a jet (quiet at idle however). i love the sound! haha

Being straight piped is NOT ghetto, unless your talking about the way you have it setup with it exiting. I think its on the list as one of the cheapest mods out there, and definitely sets us 6.ohL guys apart from any other diesel crowd because of the awesome sound at idle, strolling around in parking lots with the whistle sound at any touch of the throttle, and the v-8 throaty sound at WOT.

Ya'll do want you want in the end anyways. But I also cant stand smoke blowers. Maybe I am just bais but I always see a ton more D-bag (Dodge) owners out there doing this than any Ford or Chubby owners. Hmmm....

Maybe the soot will be a great inhibitor for rust build up
ok so im looking at an MBRP 4 or 5" straight pipe system to put on my truck.
from the turbo, is it 3.5" all the way to the back of the truck? so a kit like this, that is 4", does this replace all the 3.5"? im reading through old threads and some say they start from the downpipe, im not sure and would like to clarify before i make a purchase.
few questions:
-the exhaust starts directly after the turbo, right?
-right after the turbo is where the downpipe starts?
these 2 kits i believe are essentially the same, but one has more pipes pieced together, the other has less pieces.
does this kit exit close to where the stock exhaust pipe is located? and i want to be sure i know where on the truck this kit starts (at turbo, right before stock cat, etc)
could someone clarify my above questions for me before i order a kit?
also, i see most go with MBRP, but i see some go with diamond eye. any input on brand choice? and i guess i will opt for the 4" kit as its just a stock truck and will never be modded crazy power wise, so i heard 5" is a waste of money unless you have a ton of mods/power? any difference in sound on an otherwise stock 04 6.0?
do those turboback kits include a new downpipe?
should i go stainless, Aluminized , etc?
currently have my exhaust unbolted for a ghetto straightpipe, and i dont want it dumping under the passenger side of the cab for too long! lol

Ask Per4mance on the Diamond Eye. He will fill you in on how easy the install was.

Have a Diamond Eye 4" tb to 5", whistle at idle is pretty nuts. everyone i know hears me before i see them, lots of looks, great rumble when accelerating past 2500 rpm and no drone as long as you have no leaks and have a tip exiting past the box fender (Some people don't do tips and end under the fender and it resonates a funny turbo noise unlike the regular whistle).
I will say the up pipe was a S.o.B to get in, but i like the look of the 5" tailpipe for sure. Do yourself a favour and get a kit that includes a tip
Does the exhaust sound change with a full straight pipe installed versus how it sounds unbolted before the cat and just dumped under the cab?
You will hear it more in the cab, dumped underneath. For comparison, loudness will probably be the same turbo noise wise. The bigger you go the deeper you can get the rumble at WoT, a tip definitely does change it believe it or not. For idle, size doesn't matter, you will hear that 6.0 turbo from 200ft away regardless
I bought my Excursion with a straight pipe already on it. Its stock pipe (3.5"). No aftermarket downpipe, no cat and no muffler. Sounds just as good as any aftermarket kit (in my opinion of course). Although I have been searching for a 4"+ exhaust w/ downpipe for fuel mileage.
Iv only gotten mine to blow smoke on one occasion: I was pulling a trailer with a '96 F-250 on it, and put it on the floor to allow a car to merge. I got a gentle huff. Woohoo lol
I had a downpipe dump on my '96 F-250 because the exhaust kept coming undone so I just took it off. Sounded AMAZING but droned a good bit. My moms '01 F-350 had the exhaust exiting behind the cab and it was nearly unbearable.
All in your taste really.
Also, the '96 had an aFe system on it. The fit was crappy to say the least. Not much good to say about that system
i didn't get a tip yet, gonna look around and i have to decide what size i want.
anyone know if the downpipe on this kit is 4" as well, i think i read that some have a smaller downpipe then it bumps up to the 4" after that. just curious.
