Ignition Wiring

I plan on adding a push to start button but i dont want it to just start the truck. I want it to be as if i turned the key. My understanding is, the ignition provides power to other such things. So here is my plan:

2 Switches

Switch 1 - Momentary Push Button:

Input from Hidden Switch
1 Push button Power to Starter wire Red/Blue ignition wire

Switch 2 - Push button Power On (Hidden)

Input:
Yellow wire from ignition - +

Output to :
Push Button
Red/Green to solenoid
black/green stripe wire feeds ignition on circuits in the fuse box.
black wire to feed alt and cluster

Does that sound right? Am i missing any wires ? I am just starting the plan and have not dove into it yet and wanted to make sure i know wha ti am getting into

I'm the wrong guy (not qualified) but there is no mention of your resistor wire (Pink). I'm seeing if I can get the wiring diagram to attach. Someone qualified should answer this so I don't lead you astray

First I'm going to suggest that you use/repair or properly replace the factory keyed switch with a new one.

My father put a button start on his 64 in 1982 not to deter theft but because those days were hard times, the switch was broke and that was what he he had.

I think your design is overly complicated especially with the two push buttons. This is what my father did and it's based on the factory switch.......
A flip toggle turns power ON.
A the starter is activated by a push button, like a F-1.

This replaces the action of the ignition switch. Study a ignition switch and how it works. The toggle does the same job as when you turn the Key ON. The push button does the same job when you turn the key to the start position.

Flipping the toggle back tuns the truck OFF like turning the key off. The push button is only used to activate the starter.

Will it deter theft....who knows. Putting the coil wire in pocket does just as well as does locking the door....putting a chain and lock on the wheel. Thing is you can crank one of these trucks in 10 seconds with a jumper wire under the hood. Also some thieves run around with a hook truck like a repo man. So what do you do?

lol well there is a little difference you see...Instead of a toggle switch im using a push button. Small, and easier to hide...Its SPST and will work the same. Now your standard push button is momentary and you simply hold it until the vehicle starts.

Im simply trying to confirm which wires and what all needs to be powered by the power switch so everything functions accordingly.

If someone wants to steal the truck they will. I mean, its not as if you cant jump it off the solenoid and by supplying power to the coil. So yeah, its silly and really not meant to detour anyone. I like it and id rather someone see it and not have a clue how to start my car then just jump in and go

Thanks for the info so far
