Altho I can't help with the extended square, McMaster.com does have a very good selection of carriage, elevator and plow bolts if you want to try another source.
all mine are the same length . came from carpenter. tried to get carriage bolts , which i could but the head is wrong. too small diameter.
they have made in china on them and have the long square shank. probably hard to match. lowes didnt have them either. going to contact carpenter
and see if they have addressed this before. post if you find a solution. checked fastenal as well, nothing there.
he was no help. looked up the bolts in a ford parts catalog for location 3 (behind the cab) . said that green had them. ordered them from there
and got the right length and dia. but they had the phillips head. other than that hey look the same. the head was same diameter as opposed to
carriage bolts from the hardware store. in my case im having bed liner sprayed in so i can fill in the phillips head before they spray it
and it will cover it. let me now if you want the bolts . i ordered 4 and only needed 2. just got the bolts , no nuts or washer.
thx .
I have never seen these at Ace or Tractor supply , if you can find them at your local stores , is there an item number or anything you could point us to so we could order them ? I would still like to find the longer ones myself but the square shank on a bed bolt is close to 1 inch or more long , all I can find at Ace or anywhere only have the standard size shank around 1/4" or so long on a carriage bolts , cant seem to find the longer square shank part of the carriage bolts anywhere else
Our local ACE is now out of business. Of course they opened up a block from Home Depot so.......
I had no idea this was an issue for so many of us or I would have bought all their stock up and sold them on here
So we all know these types of carriage bolts are out there somewhere.....maybe not for automotive purposes though.....I spent 45min or so surfing the web and I didn't find anything. Kinda surprising my GoogleFoo let me down .
They exist, but not sure how to acquire them. Anyone here in Iron work or fabrication?? Maybe see who your supplier is for hardwarew and contact them?? I've worked with a construction companies many times and have seen the metal framers working with I beams (not our trucks I beams) and bolting them together with long square shank bolts. They are out there......
Just order a superduty bed bolt kit and be done with it.
Exactly what I did on my truck. They have the torx head on them and the J-clip which clips over the frame. A lot easier to deal with than a bolt and a nut which you have to climb under truck to tighten.

Torx are fine but I prefer the old school look mainly , its not like you need to take the bed off very much if any
