Who has them for the 87-96 trucks?

LMC has a set of 8 listed for 80-86 but my year takes only 6 and they are heavily shouldered whereas the LMC bolts look just like regular carriage bolts.

Try a stealership. Sometimes they surprise you with their part prices. My local Ford dealer almost always beats the parts store prices, and they're less likely to screw up the order.

well the shouldering of the bolts prevents the bolt from dropping thru the frame should the bed support or floor suffer damage from a crushing load (thereby loosening the bed)

if I cannot find them then yes, I will be obtaining G5 carriage bolts and welding on my own shoulders made of galvanized pipe - but Id like to stay original

Have a look at McMaster-Carr, they have a ton of hardware parts, you may find what you're after.

Bed Bolts

Thru 1997:

N803022S40 .. Bed Bolt-Metric

MSRP: $16.50 / FTEpartsguy.com price each: $9.90
--------------------------------------------------
N803020S40 .. Bed Bolt-Metric

MSRP: $11.50 / FTEpartsguy.com price each: $6.90
-------------------------------------------------
N803023S40 .. Bed Bolt-Metric

MSRP: $16.50 / FTEpartsguy.com price each: $9.90
--------------------------------------------------
If you type the numbers into FTEpartsguy's site (link above among the sponsors), the sizes will be listed.

Most dealers will not stock these bolts and the usual whine when you ask for them is: "I can't find them illustrated anywhere...go to a hardware store."

The reason they can't find them is, they are not shown in the bed illustrations or in the sheet metal illustrations.

They are shown here: Section 50.2, Page 2 = Frame section.

Last time I had my bed off I got big hex bolts and appropriate "J" Tinnerman nuts for the frame to replace the ones I had to grind off. Dealership wanted $16 or $17 apiece.

hah last time i had the bed off i used an impact wrench and made the square holes in the bed round... thus defeating the carrage bolt function, i just welded the bolt heads to the bed

If you enter the number in-correctly, you'll get: No parts found.

OEM catalog / search by part number. Type it in, select Ford = Bingo.

Make sure the zeros are zeros, not the letter O.

Any combo will work: N803023S40 / n803023s40 / N803023s40 / n803023S40.

No spaces, no hyphens. I just tried it again, works for me.

ok thanks, got it to work. now here is the dumb question - which ones do I need? The ones with a 'C' are carriage? I didnt not if I have different sizes or not since I cut each one off by splitting the nut - the bed is off, but the bedliner is still in it os I guess I gotta do some looking...

they appear to be 3.25, 3.5 and 4.25 inches long
