Have scan gauge and torque pro. The problem is on a up hill grade sometimes my truck farts and blows a puff of black smoke with no load. If I let off the peddle or down shift it goes away.Sometimes this happens 2 or 3 times than I'm good the rest of the trip. Not sure where to start looking.Any thoughts would be helpful.Truck has 97k and only driven couple times a month.I do put by foot in it to spool up the turbo and clean it up.No check lights. All fuel and oil filters stock.
Thanks Mike
I had that problem last night.......oh the truck
With not driving it much my first thought would be a cleaning of all sensors and egr (if egr is not deleted) and more than likely a clean on the turbo--just off the top of my head. Do you have any readings--map, baro, ebp, vgt?

I agree clean the IA2 while your in there to clean the MAP,EBP and turbo.
EBP = Exhaust Back Pressure. it will be almost right under you nose at
that point.
Question on your description. Is it a fart with a pop or more of a cough
clearing it's throat?
I reread the post and really thing it not being driven enough. So
a cleaning is in order.
Maybe more of a cough.I did clean the egr,no change and map sensor. 88 in the shop this afternoon,so I not going to rush in to cleaning the turbo.Always good to have a back up ride.
