I'm having a small problem. For the past couple of weeks I've started the truck in the morning. I let it run for a few min's as I always do. I jump in it an put into gear and it stalls. Put back in Park , starts right up and then is fine.
knowing that the EGR is due for its monthly cleaning, I went ahead this time around and got a new one for it. Same thing this morning.
I think its kinda odd that it stalls that one time and then is fine. I do run a scan gauge in the truck as well.
Monthly EGR valve cleaning? How dirty is it getting each month?
It should not be that bad and if it is then there is something going
on that needs addressed. Are you adding anything to the fuel each fill?
You guys have brought up some good points that I haven't thought about until now.
EGR cleaning is just a habit I've gotten into.
The truck has been sitting about a week at a time most of the summer due to me driving mostly the van for work.
I'm about 600 miles over on the oil change so that needs to be done. I haven't even put any additive in the fuel since last fall. So maybe I better get caught up first on some of my maintenance and go from there.
Well in that case ficm for sure, make sure both battery's are up on your gauge you don't want anything lower than12.8 koeo now you will see that with glo plugs on after 3 to 4 sec after the alt will kick the amps up ,on the alternator full load like every light on , fan on high , radio , etc you don't want anything lower than 13.3 those two Idem's will kill your FICM , ficm koeo cold start per ford - 47.0 A heathy ficm koeo 48./49.0+ , this is why I asked if you were experiencing stiction at cold start. The fuel if sitting for a while has to have a treatment, diesel kleen , Howes, will help but you may need to look into the HFCM for signs of growth , while your under there drain the water sep into a clear glass for inspection results , and install your OEM filters.
