My AOD Transmission seems to shift good into first, but then seems to go into 2nd and 3rd gear a little early. I know I have to adjust the TV kickdown, but does anyone know if I need to increase presure, or decrease? Does anyone know the RPM Range it should shift?
An increase in pressure will make the shifts later and harder. If you are using a pressure gauge and the procedure in Ford shop manuals try setting the pressure at about 40psi, I had good luck with that pressure on pickups and police cars when I was working in a Ford dealership.
Actually high pressure won't hurt the transmission as shifts will be firmer with less slippage. Low pressure is death on transmissions. Thats why on electronic controlled transmissions, failure mode is maximum pressure with very hard shifts.
Rclarke: Do you remember whats was the external diammeter of the original Ford Tool used to setup that pressure? I had manual, and I know the procedure, but I couldn't get the Ford tools needed.
My AOD use TV Cable, not TV linkage. I6 engine+carburetor+AOD
