I don't have a cable but a solid metal rod. I guess they must have only used the rod on the CFI throttle body carburators. I modified my Motorcraft 2150 throttle linkage to add the AOD linkage of the junked CFI carb that was on the engine when I got it. I got the TV Rod off an '84-85 Ford Thunderbird and the tranny arm off an '83 Ford LTD AOD. I have mounted these on my '90 Ford Crown Victoria AOD. I think the TV Rod is set up correctly but I want to make sure. I think the set screw at the carb linkage is to set the tranny's shift pressure. Thanks for the help though.
You have to install a pressure gauge on the tv port on the passenger side of the trans, and adjust the pressure until you get 33 psi on the gauge. If i remember right it is the middle port, hope this helps.
I have a 80 aod out of a thunderbird, never seen it all togather, so I not sure how it hooks up, I'v been lookin for info on this myself, My trany just has the lever on the trany under the shift lever, the other side has a cap and labeled TV, Do I need a cable or just the rod ??

Is the second lever a straight arm that points to the front of the tranny or is it bent like a backwards C. The backwords C used the TV cable and the straight arm used the TV Rod. I car I took the TV Rod off was a complete original '84-85 Thunderbird 302 with CFI and an AOD tranny since the gear shifter said P R N OD D 1. I know that the C3, C4 and C-5 trannys in the mustangs used kickdown rods but they had a different way of bolting to the carb.

the tv linkage on my truck has a straight arm but has a cable though.
Mine appears to be striaght pointing to the front.. I havn't picked a carb yet, will this need to be considered, due to the cable or rod ? or is it just a matter of the right linkage ?? When you say adjust the TV psi. How is that done ? At a spec.RPM ? Would this adjustment change on the trany if you use the same t.converter and all, Or is adjusting this psi. only somthing needed done after a rebuild of the trany ? I know thats alot of ?s but I'm just trying to learn, any info would be great thanks!!

MY haynes manual has the procedure to adjust the TV lever. It seems like nobody has ever seen these before for some reason. ITs a very simple process. As soon as i get home (1-2 hours) i will post how to do it correctly.
Looks like you and I dueller have are in the same boat. I'm having trouble with my TV rod and it's almost impossible to find anyone who has or had the TV Rod and not the TV cable. They are adjusted differently.
I sure would like to get this problem solved, quickly!
