Hey all;

Tire time... no lift or suspension mods... 265/75/R15 on now. Is the 31x10.5x15 the comparable spec match to my OEM's?

im running that tire on my 96 right now. I am even thinking of going to a 32x11.5x15. But right now no problems with that size.

not the same tire but the same size.

265 is slightly taller than 31x10.50. I have 31 on mine and my spare is the orignal 265 had it side by side with one of the 31 and also looked at the two sizes side by side at tire store and noticed the difference. 31's usually run cheaper then 265 also.

OK, then, can I up the tires a notch from a 265/75/R15 to 275/75/R15 without any modifications? By smaller, how much?

My 31X10.50's rub the radius arm too, and the speedo is off by about 10 percent. Which is strange because the sticker on my truck says that it was made with 31" tires.

I have a 96 with BFG AT KO 31x10.5 tires and they fit with absolutely no rubbing. I really think I could fit the 32's with no problems except maybe a slight rub on the plastic air damn under the bumper but when I bought these I wanted to make sure no rubbing. FYI--these are on 8 x 15 rims not the stock rim if that makes a difference. I have a completely stock suspension (no lift).

I have had both old and new 33x12.50 tires on my'90 Bronco full size, and the new ones were raped around new 15x10 rims. Andnot once did my tires rub on anything. The only problem was that I could not go offroad, then the tires would rub on the fenders.

265 isnt the height of the tire, it is the width in millimeters, the second number is the height as a percentage of the width. for example, 265/75/15 is 265 mm wide, then to get the sidewall height you would multiply 265x.75 which would be 198.75mm. in inches that would be 10.4 inches wide, and the sidewall would be 7.8 inches. multiply the sidewall by 2 and add the 15in. rim size and 265/75/15 would be 30.6/10.4/15 which is smaller than 31/10.5/15

31 one inch tires are not 31 inches in diameter. They are about 30.5-30.6

rem243 is right, i was just using it as a comparison tho. so actually the 265/75/15 would be almost identical to 31/10.5/15

I'm running 32x11.50 BFG A/T on the '96 with 10" rims - stock suspension, with no rub problems on the road.

I would think the stock rims would not give enough off-set to allow anything much wider/bigger than the 265 with out radius arm polishing?
