Rear Drive Shaft help.. Broke the back yolk...

Rear farthesht back U joint blew apart, and it took the slip yolk with it... where do i get one? Stealership can have it in tomorrow by 8 am for $206+ tax... daily driver so i had to do it..

Just want to know for further refrence, or possibly alternative, 2000 4x4 zf6. super cab short bed. At end of trasmission of i have u joint to u joint in a little (about 2 inches apart) adapter, then long driveshaft with splines at the end, and the yolk i broke went on those splines and u jointed to the differential...

If that helps describe it... Never had a drive shaft issue before, not sure thats the proper name...

any help is good help...

Yes, make sure you grease up those splines before you put it together. I can't speak to the alternatives/ substitutes. and if the driveshaft U/J's have grease fittings, give them a shot each before installing.

I will need brand new one for the rear. The two front dont have grease fittings. I am going to try to change them all. But since it got "ripped out" when it hit the ground and flying no where to be found, i dont know if their was anything else on their or not, nothing was supposed to retain it obviously.... right? lol

How is the dealership so stupid! I gave them my VIN! I described the item 55 times very thoroughly.... and instead of the rear slip yoke that connects to the spines at the far end of the rear drive shaft that connects to the differential with a u joint.... he gives me the part on the differential that my part u joints too!! There is no SLIP yolk about it. It dosent slide over top SPLINES period let alone the ones on the end of the drive shaft.

Pictures speak volumes when describing anything....and a VIN doesn't help too much when it comes to Driveshafts. When in doubt, take him the pieces and tell him which end is forward. Hopefully he figures it out.

I have it cleared up now with a picture from google images. My origional flew down the road somewhere. He kept telling me what i described is a front driveshaft and was fighting me i didnt have a one piece drive shaft with two u joints right beside each other in some type of knuckle right out the transmission...

Finally he found it. His ford pictures didnt even show my driveshaft style. Apparrenrly to him i have a rare drive shaft. But it was $111 cheaper 8-)

See? Good things come to those who wait..... actually, on a 1 piece shaft, the slider yoke is on the North end of the shaft already hooked together at the UJ. You do the hard connection on the south end...Split drive lines are a whole 'nother animal...

If ever in doubt and a hurry find a local driveline shop to help you. They do excellent work and very reasonable prices. We have ours on speed dial. Glad you got it.
