Engine cuts out while driving
Engine cuts out while driving
Allright guys sometimes I think this Bronco is just trying to kill itself. I have a 78' Bronco with a 351M and lately when I am driving the engine justs cuts out, no sound or anything, if I keep my foot into it sometimes it keeps going other times the truck completely dies. It won't always keep an idle either sometimes it will idle forever other times less than a minute. I could use some opinions here I am guessing either electrical or fuel problems i.e. the distributor, carb, or fuel pump.
Any help appreciated

It could be any of those things, Greg. Since it's intermittant, first check the fuel filter for being clogged. If it's OK, check the fuel pump output. If it's OK, then it's either the ignition module or the distributor pick-up coil.
Since it cuts out completely, I would suspect the ignition module. These have a history of going bad.

Sometime it's the simple things that get us down, have you replaced the fuel filter lately? Had the same problem once with mine.
Another time it was my plug wire going to my coil - 'bout drove me crazy
With my 2 occ. with m/fuel pump going out, they went out sudden with out much warning.
LOL
