I've taken this alternator off about 10 or 12 times now. Well not this one but several replacements and to change voltage regulator etc. I'm a pro now. Can do it in 7 minutes.
So how does it run? does it charge up the batteries? You do know at idle you will not see 220A even at full load conditions. At idle I see about 12.5V and don't actually hit +14V till I get moving.
Ed @ FICMrepair.com makes and sells upgrade battery and alternator cables.
1. Add a heavy cable alternator to ground.
2. Add heavy cable w/300 amp fuse alternator to pass battery.
3. Add a heavy cable between pos terminals of batteries.
These reduce resistance between key components of electrical system to maximize charging and reduce voltage drop.
