Voltage Issue
I Have a 1997 Ford Ranger with 5 rotator vista lightbar with two flashers to the front and an 8 lamp signal master to the rear when i have the bar fully light up my voltometer drops real low... and sugestions a just replaced the battery in the truck i do think the alternator is going bad...

sounds like it is the alternator. have someone hold the engine at about 2500rpm and check the voltage. then turn everthing on and check it again, the voltage should drop slightly then pick right back up as the regulator brings the voltage back up. I would say to go ahead and get a high output alternator anyway running those lights, replacing it with another oem one could result in the same problem down the road. my truck (a 97 ranger 3.0) had a 105 amp alternator in it when i bought it and i run 6 extra lights off the front and it runs just fine, even at idle. i also had to replace my alternator in my civic (daily driver for work and college) because my stereo system killed it. i put a 165 amp in place of a 65 amp and it runs great, the headlights never dim even with everything on. I would recommend re-running the grounds if you want to upgrade to a much higher alternator. Good luck.
