It's in the 13's. If I stop at a red light it drops down to 12 something.

That's just to low, I still think it's the voltage regulator... Specially in your case with the 6.0, you can start damaging the injectors.

Yea, and I just put 8 new injectors in about 4 months ago. And occasionally get a cyl 5 contribution code now.

Yep, that's no good. I only see in the 12's right after startup then it quickly jumps to 13.X and eventually settles on 14.4.

I'm thinking they sold me a 160 amp version instead of the 200 amp.

Even if they sold you a 110 it should not be at 12 anything when idle

There are some numbers/letters etched in the top. They said those numbers don't mean anything to them. There are no other markings.
If I had a 110 amp version but the system was drawing 160 amps, wouldn't the voltage keep dropping?

Yes, but a normal working alternator even a 110 amp, with let's say lights and ac on should be in the 13's even at idle not 12 anything.

My oem averaged 13.4- 13.7 under the load I just mentioned. My new alternator once the truck starts it sits at 14.4 with ac and lights on.

Mine eventually settles at 14.2V. Now regardless of the 160A or 200A version their website states the VR is set to 14.5V so even if they sent you the wrong one your voltages should be higher especially after you drive around and charge your system back up.

Here's some more interesting information. My voltage actually goes up as soon as I turn the key off.

If it was me, I would check and clean ALL battery cables than I would have the batteries load tested. If those would pass, I would throw that alternator in the trash and move on.

They finally called back and said that the voltage is definitely too low and to send it back to them. Today I went out to start the truck and the battery light stayed on. No output at all. Sounds like I just got a defective unit. I will post again when I get the new one. Thanks for the suggestions.

Have you done the big 3 upgrade to your cables? If not this would be a good time.
