Good video, however this method leaves fluid in the TC and lines. You are only changing about a 1/3 of the fluid volume.

Agreed, and I for one would prefer to flush the whole thing, but it seems the only way to flush it is to get the fluid super hot (which would alow the fluid through the cooler via thermostat). I'd rather do a partial change than risk damage to my transmission trying to get it hot enough. Just my 2 cents.

I dunno. normally I'd agree, but in the video Brian claims you get most of it out with just the pan.


I don't have time to re-watch it or I'd give you a time stamp, but he does mention it in the video somewhere. IIRC, he even says how many quarts to replace with a pan change in relation to the total volume in the system.

I agree. A dipstick would be nice on these damn things.

I think he said 7.5 qts. It holds about 13, so a bit over half is changed with just the pan. Another reason for a DIY'er to do it more than what the manual says. I'm sticking to my 50k number for my own gratification.
