TPMS Warning Light

for the last couple months when not towing I take the front tires to 65 psi and the rears to 50 psi. It gives me the warning light which I click OK to every time I start it. This weekend I put everything back to 80 psi getting ready to tow and I can't get the warning light to go out anymore. I double checked my pressure to make sure everything was OK and it was.

I will be taking it in unless someone knows a reset or something else to check out before I do.

Thanks

Leon

Hi Leon,

Taking your truck in to the dealer is a great next step. How many miles are on it currently? I'll start investigating some ways to help out.

Almost 23,000 miles on it right now, I will get it scheduled for a visit.

Thanks

I would reset it.
You know you can reset it to whatever pressures you want, front and rear.

When you say you put the pressures back to 80psi...was this all tires or just the rear?....on the SRW, fronts are 65 psi and the rears are 80 psi.

I set up an appointment for the dealer this morning and when I started up the truck the light is off, so not sure why it was on all weekend and not today. I will reschedule when or if it comes back on.

To clarify on the pressures it is 65 psi in the front and 80 psi in the back, I did write the wrong before.

Leon, just so you know, your dealer can reset your rear threshold trigger to anything you like. I do the same as you and also lower my rears to 65 in the off season when I'm not pulling my 5th wheel. So, I had my dealer program my rear trigger to the same as the front and now I can lower my rear pressure with no TPMS alert. It also allows tire rotation without reprogramming tire location. Some dealers don't want to do it as they are afraid of liability if you forget to air back up to 80 before towing heavy. My service dept. told me it was impossible. So, I went to the owner who I just dealt with when buying the truck and asked him if I need to get it serviced elsewhere from then on. (Perhaps I'd buy my next truck there too?) The service writer who told me it was "impossible" suddenly had it done for me in ten minutes.

Thanks for that information, I will talk to the dealer and see if they can do that. I'm sure they can, they have been easy to deal with every time I needed something.
