Lower radiator hose on 460
I just changed the radiator hoses on my 1996 F350 with the 460. It has the factory oil cooler, so it has the two lower hoses. I can't believe what a pita the little elbow hose was to change.
I had to grease up the inside of the hoses, wouldn't work without doing that. I got it on there once before greasing it but couldn't make it go on all the way, that is when I tried silicone spray.
I had to take the fan and shroud off to get enough room to work but was eventually able to get it on by pinching both end of the hose together and pushing it between the two barbed ends the hose goes on and then pushing it around to make sure it was going on like it should. I had to twist it back and forth forever it seems to get it seated properly, but eventually got it. Much bigger job than I thought it was going to be, that's for sure.

You should have just ditched the cooler and put a regular radiator hose on it. The 460 coolers are prone to failure (they leak internally and mix your coolant and oil) and lots of guys run without them. I took the cooler off my 351 a couple years ago, no problems yet and I don't expect any either.
But yeah them lower hoses are a PITA to change. And expensive too.

I agree to an extent and will most likely swap it out someday. I've read here that if you keep up with coolant changes they last pretty well. Not too sure if I'm keeping up as well as I should...
What I would like to do is get one of the Ford Racing 90* adapters but also use a sandwich adapter to be able to mount and air to oil cooler. Not going to happen this summer, but I tow with this thing a lot and I like having a cooler. Not sure if there's even enough room to do that, waiting for an answer on that thread where I asked about it.

Hose Length (in):20.000

Hose End 2:1 23/32 in.
Lower hose between engine and cooler, I bought a Goodyear 61712
Hose Length (in):4.000

Hose End 2:1 13/16 in.
