Replacing lower radiator hoses

Replacing lower radiator hoses
I'll be changing out the lower rad hoses on my 2000 EX. All looks quite straightforward except for the hoses to/from the oil cooler. Someone put the pressure hose clamps with the tabs upwards. Before I go any further, what's the best way to get at and reach those clamps. Does removing the wheel help, for example?

That's actually where they usually are. This is your friend.

I was doing some reading here and it looks like removing the oil cooler is an incredibly difficult, multi-step procedure. I'm working on a V10 gasser. Am I wrong on this?

I changed mine a couple weeks after I bought the Ex. The coolant lines going to the oil cooler had been rubbing on the frame and looked like they wouldn't last much longer. I just pulled it up on car ramps and changed them. I believe it took 30-45 minutes of hating life with a pair of channelocks in a very awkward position laying beneath the Ex. If I recall correctly mine were rotated upward also. Whichever position it was seemed like it was a bad position, but ended up being the easiest way to get them back on.
My Ex is leaking a little oil from behind the oil cooler and I have since purchased a new gasket for it. I have been avoiding that job because I thought I would have to deal with the clamps again and the motor mount would need to be removed to take it off. I am not looking forward to that job and may leave it until the leak gets worse.
Good luck!

Removing the entire oil cooler like I was talking about is supposed to require removing the motor mount. Check out this thread for the diagram-https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/876424-oil-leak.html

I just looked at the diagram again and to just remove the oil filter adapter you can probably do like he said. If so it should be much easier to get those hose clamps on and off.
