'96 Pass. O2 Sensor
This is actually a FS Bronco Question but there isn't a lot of activity in the Bronco forum and I think the answers are probably going to be consistent with the F-150 so I'd like to ask this question here as well.
My '96 has the 5.0L manual tranny and the Passenger side 02 sensor looks like it has welded itself to the manifold. I have tried soaking it, (PB Blaster) for days and tried turning the sensor with the engine both hot and cold. The idea of pulling the manifold so that I can break it and then buy a replacement isn't very appealing so my question is this:
I am wondering why I can't just change the location of the sensor. If I was to weld a bung onto the 'Y' pipe just below the mounting flange I would think that there would only be a small change in the measurements. There appears to be plenty of room so unless someone knows of a reason to not put the sensor in the pipe I might try it to see what happens.
Any thoughts anybody? All input appreciated.
Thanks.
Btw, heat the bung that contains the threads, not the O2 sensor. Expanding the threaded part is the key but some just think heat in general is the answer.
And maybe, a quick blast from a compressed air can (held upside down so it shoots out liquid Difluoroethane right on the sensor.
