O2 sensor

For the second time in a row my O2 sensor is locked in place. Last truck I had to cut it off and use a regular socket to twist it out along with the threads. Question is: As with last time and probably this time I had to ground off the threads of the new O2 sensor and weld it in the hole of the old one. Wil it hurt the O2 sensor at all by stick welding it in as along as it is unplugged?

I can't imagine that it's good for the sensor. I've hear that using rtv in the presence of an o2 sensor can ruin them from outgassing while it cures. I'm wondering what the gases from the rod flux would do to it.

I'd be more concerned about the current that's passing thru the sensor causing damage.

If you weld it without it plugged into the connector, then there should not be a current path through the O2 sensor element.
