Okay thanks. I'll probably just wait until mine goes out. No sense taking the header off to replace a good one I guess. Even if it's 1 week or 5 years.
My starter started sound slow once it got warmed up in the summer time day so changed it out to the mini starter when installing the dodge 5spd o/d tranny.
This was my first attempt at removing the oen starter and has loosen the header .
I added a note when ordering mine told Samderson don't send me the headers if they trapped the starter and they send them any way. But guess that $550 I paid them they did not give a ***** once the got the money in there hands.
Greedy SOB
Rich, what is the coating on your headers? I would like to do the same, but its a long long way to the border, and the land of plenty... maybe better for me to just order new ones from Clifford, and order the ceramic coated ones.. ?? thoughts?

What engine is the 5spd backed up too, orich?
The nv4500 fits the Fe block pretty good and was a easy install for me.
Cost was about $1800+-some but, I install new flywheel & stage ll clutch setup but the oem setup can be used. Shorten driveline 6'' Moved the cross member back about 4" an used the chevy trans mount. Cut new holes for shifter sticks.
1800 is cheap for a 5 speed behind an FE. you said it fit the block "pretty well", any mods to the block and bell housing?
A Advance adapter was used to mate them.
Since my truck is a f250 4wd with the remote transfer case I had to change the tranny over to the chevy nv4500 rear tail shaft & housing as it makes it 6" shorter that is needed to keep drive line angle at 7* degrees.
As you can see the tail shaft.
The ford 2wd can use the regular dodge V8 gas eng. nv4500 tranny tho 6'' longer an less troubles.
As I did have to make a bracket for the 4wd shift lever to mount on the rear of the tranny.
This is the what the dodge long tail shaft looks like that can be used in the 2w fords
The NV 4500 is a pricy item, and my old NP435 is still in good shape, so I have not made the jump yet. May not be worth it to me, as I do not do much highway driving. Around town, I never even get to 4th gear, let alone OD.. Its one of those 'Dream Ticket' items for me...
