Trying to get my CSI starter and headers bolted up to the new motor. My headers are cheepy $90 headers off ebay. No matter which way i clock the starter, I cannot get enough clearance. I am willing to buy new headers to get more clearance unless anybody has other ideas. I was almost ready to break out the torch and hammer and make it fit, but decided to reference the msg board. Truck is a 68' F250 2wd with a 390. Who make a good header for this truck.

i have a 69 f-100 with a 390. are you intreasted in getting ride of those cheepy header if you get those from stans Headers? If so let me know? I am looking some cheap for my truck because i got my truck cheap
If i do end up with new headers, these ones will be for sale. Keep in mind, im would be selling them because they do not fit, especially with a stock starter.
When you guys buy headers always check the foot notes!
they will tell you what they will fit or if you have to loosen header to remove the starter or for a 4x4 and so on..
maybe i didnt explain my self good enough. With the starter bolted in, the headers will not bolt up. I can get the header bolts in, but before the gasket gets squished, the header hits the starter. The CSI starter allows you to change its clock position, i have tryed the few that might be close, and it still hits. It confuses me completely. Anyone like the higher end Hedman Headers? Who else makes them for my truck?
My '68 F250 4x4 has Hedman headers, and it looks like the previous owner had to massage them in with a ball-pean hammer! I spent about 3 hours last weekend changing out my starter - I personally don't think they are worth the hassle - I will soon be going back to the good 'ol cast iron manifolds myself.
Once you get your new headers to fit, don't forget to shround your starter with a heat shield or it will burn out quickly. You also might consider sleeving your starter cable in some thick water hose for protection.
My $.02 worth.

I just went back to the stock manifolds after 24+ yrs with 2 1/4'' exh pipes with a H cross over pipe.. When you go to change back be sure an have them refaced for good sealing around the exh ports. Gee sure is nice to have my engine compartment back now with those headers out of the way.

I'm guessing the CSI starter is NOT stock. I put a set of the cheapest headers Hedman makes and they install fine with my STOCK starter. I have a 71 2WD and 360.
