So I need to replace the rear driver side "left" Caliper because its keeps on sticking not real bad but enough to get warmer than the other side.
I see on Rockauto site that there is more than one part number.
I was going to just buy the Motorcraft brand both are remanufactured.
Both are for the rear left, why are there two different numbers?
MOTORCRAFT BRC237RM
MOTORCRAFT BRCF284 OE Design.
This is for my 2005 F250 4x4 with about 33k miles on it.
Thanks for your time
Looks like one is a for single rear wheel trucks and one is for dual rear wheel trucks. Or else there are differences in behind the axle mounted caliper part numbers vs in front of the axle mounted numbers.

Ya they the MOTORCRAFT BRCF284 says:
Rear Left; OE Design; w/ Single Wheel
The MOTORCRAFT BRC237RM says:
The Rear Left; Retail....It doesn't say anything about the dual wheels. I did select the F250 model.
Any idea if the original calipers have part numbers on them?
Thanks
Edit...I just found out the the dual rear wheel caliper have different part numbers too.

Their site will show calipers for F-350s too even if you selected F-250. You will notice it with other vehicles you look up parts for on their site. Some of the calipers they listed for you probably fit the 2005 Ex too despite the Ex having different brakes than the 05' SD.
Put your VIN # in on this site and see if you can pull up the caliper for your truck. Cross reference the part # they list with the part number from Rockauto.
Thanks...Just Strokin.....Im thinking im going with Motorcraft or Cardone....
Should they be replaced in pairs?? I hear different opinions.
Also if I just replace the left rear should I just use Motorcraft because thats whats on the other side "Factory caliper".

No need to replace them in pairs IMO. About 2 years ago I replaced my right rear caliper only, the other 3 are original. The caliper was not bad but the steel sheetmetal over the end of the piston tore and you could see the phenolic. I did not trust it so I got a Motorcraft replacement from a local dealer.(I needed it ASAP) I did flush the system with new fluid though after it was installed. No issues replacing just the one.
Thanks.....ya I rather stick with Motorcraft......
also I do flush my brakes every two years.....this is the first vehicle I started doind that I cant believe how dark the old fluid is when I flush it.
thanks for the help......Gage
I replaced my passenger rear in 2011, and my drivers side rear a few months ago. I like to replace them in pairs, but in reality I don't think it matters.
So still having problems with the Caliper part# I looked up with my VIN and there is two different part#s I also looked at the factory Caliper on the truck and there is no match numbers on it.
Heres the list...
2552
(BRCF-117)
Rear Disc Brake Caliper
Ford 250 Series Ford 350 Series ; With Single Rear Wheels; LH $106.88
2552
(BRC-237-RM)
Rear Disc Brake Caliper
Ford 250 Series Ford 350 Series ; With Single Rear Wheels; LH, Ford Retail Spec, Remanufactured $104.30
If you are not sure which to get...
take the bad one off and make a trip to advance auto...or zone, or napa...
get the one that matches what you took off. Or at the very least you can get the part number to it and that will give you some direction.
Ok so I found out by talking to the on-line help from Ford parts that the Caliper #(BRCF-117) is new, and the Caliper #(BRC-237-RM) is Remanufactured.
What do you guys think of the CARDONE Ultra Premium Caliper...
CARDONE Ultra Premium Calipers feature an exclusive, silver powder coating that protects against rust and corrosion. This one comes with the Caliper and Bracket. its $126.79
Thanks
EDIT...
How about the Centric Brand Calipers.....Is it ok to mix brands on the same axle?

We think the Ultra Calipers are great... but we're a bit biased
Have you seen our 1 min video on them?
