Why didn't I do this sooner?

Yesterday, while moving around stuff in the garage, I looked in the box containing my anti rattle kit and thought, "This doesn't look like it will take long." Ha! After working for several hours, I finally got the drivers side door completed early this morning. (@$%!! little metal clips. grumble) In the process I also freed up the wing window, which has been stuck closed ever since I got the truck.

I just got back from my first drive with a working wing window. That thing is awesome. I can't believe how much air it moves. I should have done this months ago.

The passenger side wing on Edith is loose and I have to reach over and reopen it all the way, but with both of them open all the way and the cowl vent open, the truck does get a lot of air.

Them guys who went with the one piece windows with no side vent just don't know what they are missing. Super air source.

You are right about that! Why did car manufacturers get away the wing vents? I think it was 68.

Two words, Abe. Cost savings! It is much less expensive to have a single piece of glass and one set of runners/guides then it is to have the side window and the vent with all it's associated frame and mounting paraphernalia.

Mine is apparently loose too. It starts to close itself when I get up around 40. An adjustment is definitely in order. Tomorrow I'll start on the passenger side. The glass on that side needs to be replaced, so I'm sure that will be fun.

Ford had them up until 1997.

As a kid I could tell the 67 Camaro from the 68 because the 67 had the wing vents and did not have side marker lights.

I have to agree. It's my only vehicle with vent windows. Besides the air-flow, I also like the look (along with the chrome mirrors and door handles).

It depends on where you live. Here in Houston, with 100% humidity in the summer being quite common, even the vent windows and the cowl vent only keep the misery going. When it is 100 degrees and 100% humidity no wind will make one comfortable. Being here for over 60 years has a lot to do with me having one piece windows and A/C in my truck.
