I tried changing the fuel filter on my 1994 IDI Turbo tonight and ran into a snag. I had to remove the entire filter bracket because the filter was far too tight. When reassebling the system, the seal on the fuel outlet line got jamed into the flare fitting and now I can't get the seal dislodged from the fitting. Any tips on getting the seal out of the fitting? I pretty much think the is essentially destroyed.

Tried a pick and was not able to get the darn thing out. Decided to just screw on the fitting and hope for the best. Truck was hard to start due to air in the line I suppose, but no fuel was leaking at the fitting after running the truck awhile. How do you get rid of the "olives"? Regarding removing the filter from the plate--I had to clamp the filter to a work bench and use a large channel lock pliers to break it loose--whoever changed it last really screwed up! From here on out, changing the filter should be a breeze. BTW-there was some gray sludge like material in the filter--glad I changed the filter. Thanks for the feedback.
