I need to replace some lock cylinders and well I have a few 80s ford trucks so I have a lot of keys that look alike. I'd like them to actually be alike. One key to open and start multiple trucks.
I'm sure a locksmith can make this happen for big bucks. What I'd like to find however is someone selling multiple lock and ignition cylinders that are keyed the same. I've had zero success so far with my search, anyone have a source?
EDIT, forgot to mention my rigs are all 86-89. I know 86 is the same I've swapped them before but I'm pretty sure OBS ignition cylinders are different but if I had to guess the doors are the same.
you can get away with one pin in a lock cylinder so you could play around with what you have and even grind some long ones down an make what you have work. just a tought

Hmm doing it myself, not a bad idea, it's a skill I wouldn't mind having. I'd still need them to be the same offset, but that's easier I think.
FWIW I can find what they refer to a fleet kits for newer vehicles. Anyone know if OBS or newer van stuff will work?
Actually the second video applies to the pin type lock, on years that use the round key for the doors and glove box. The models that use the same key for ignition are wafer locks and the cover HAS to come off to re=key it. I am working on that now, not so easy....
My locks are all square for ignition round for door. Well at least that's how they were stock. The difference is often the offset on the key, I have door keys that go both ways.
Anyway, I'll fiddle with it when I have some time and report back, thanks.
