Hey. New here. Rebuilt an 80's T18 to go in my old cj5. I need a locking ring for the input shaft that measures .129 thick. All I can find is .120 or less. I believe it is number 9 on the exploded diagram. This is the locking ring that goes on the input shaft, directly in front of the input bearing to keep it in place. NOT the larger diameter one that goes ON the bearing itself.
This is my first transmission rebuild. If any professionals have other input in regards to this locking ring, please chime in. Perhaps .009 of space is not an issue and the .120 ring will suffice. I don't know. I've been told both sides of the story already. Matters. Doesn't matter. Being a novice, I'd feel better with a nice snug ring in there at .129 thick.
