I am trying to locate information regarding transmission interchangability.
I want to swap a granny low 4 speed from an 87 Bronco with a 3.0 into an 89 with a 5 sp overdrive and the 3.0.
Basically two good running trucks. We want to swap gearboxes, and both drive away.
Is there a way, before tearing them apart, to confirm that the two transmissions are interchangable, without modifying the floor or anything weird like that?
I figure that we can swap drive shafts, cross members, or anything else, if needed.
Everything should swap over, including clutch masters--probably better to keep the master, line, slave etc as a unit in the swap if you can. Bleeding, especially the 5 speed jobs, seems to be a pita.
Don't track me down and kill me if you have to change something. Both have the 8.8 rear axle?
