And it will use mercon 5 and while the pan is off, change the filter.

Ok my other question is that I've heard when a vehicle has lots Miles like this it's best to save the old fluid
n reuse it cause might not shift with new fluid, is that true or just a myth?

Not true.... the new oil has MANY addatives and friction modifiers that will help shifting. The old fluid will have suspended pieces of crap that can stick in lines and cause valve problems.... Don't do POWER FLUSH because that can loosen up things laying in the pan and push thru the valves. ........ It is ALWAYS a good idea to drain out old oil and refresh with new. By pulling the pan off you can clean the magnet, bottom of pan, wipe off the valve body and install new filter.

the system holds about 13 quarts. When you pull the oil pan you only get about 5-6 quarts drained. There are 8 more quarts in the torque converter and lines. My 2001 ( with 5.4 motor) had a drain plug on the converter. You can turn the converter / motor over with an 18 inch screw driver on the flywheel teeth from the bottom. Look up thru the hole in the housing to see the converter and check for a plug... I don't know if the 4.6 used the same setup or not, but the 2001 w/5.4 had a drain plug.

I wouldn't change the filter. It's not necessary.

That's a myth.

There is another myth. There is no such thing as a power flush. There are flush machines, but they use the transmission's pump to push the old fluid out and the new fluid in. They CANNOT stir up debris any more than a normally running transmission will.

All 2001 trucks left the factory with a drain plug in the torque converter.
