E-85 in a 292?

Funny you should ask, as I was involved with alcohol fuels back about 40 years ago. E85 is 85% alcohol, so the heating value and energy content are much lower than pump gas. First thing you will have to do is rejet the carb, as you will need a much richer mix. Also you will need a bigger shot from the accelerator pump, and possibly a power valve change. Timing is another consideration. For the engines I worked on (none were Ys unfortunately) timing had to be advanced to get decent performance. But the E85 has pretty good antiknock properties so knock should not be a problem.
After you do all of this, your fuel consumption will probably go up 30% to 40%. A downside with E85 on a carbureted engines is that in cold start and cold weather conditions that rich mixtures and poor fuel vaporization can be an issue, leading to cylinder washdown and oil dilution.
