Need Exhaust Recommendations

I just did the exact same thing on my '01, and my downpipe is 3" all the way back to the connector near the back of the tranny. From there back it's 3.5" OD. It thought my truck was suppose to have a 3.5" downpipe.

Sure seems like a 4" exhaust would help with EGTs, HP, and torque.

PwerStroke99,

If you're out there can you tell me what size your tires are? I tried to email you, but apparently I haven't been a member of this site long enough.

PwerStroke99,

Just wondering if they changed your fuel mileage at all. I think mine went down a bit when I put them on. Hey, what's your truck's code?

Send me email if you'd like, so we dont' have to clutter up this forum.

Need Exhaust Recommendations

Hey, I am convinced that having guages are a good idea but to be honest I just don't think I really need them, ie I don't think my EGT's will get to that dangerous level to melt my turbo, I wanted others opinions.

I currently have a CC 1999 F350 PSD 3.73 SRW with stock exhaust and the MT running in 80HP mode. The MT says that the 80HP mode is for only towing less than 4000 pounds which I am always below. My question to this forum is that if I install the larger 4" exhaust all the way back do I really need to worry
about monitoring my EGT's?

Guidance here would be very helpful!

Yes u should install the gauges to Monitor the EGTs. It is well worth the investment to pay roughly $300 for the gauges rather than risking having to pay more for a blown or melted urbo, especially with a chip of that kind of HP. You would be very surprised at how high your EGTs get with these Chips or programmers. I have the SCMT Tri Power programmer set at 110hp and can reach 1100-1200 degrees pretty easily with a load. Thats a pretty high temp. Think about what you would want to buy more, the gauges or a NEW turbo.
