Jim, i have seen an increase in my mileage and horsepower with both. When i was stock, i was averaging about 10-12 mpg. Now i am pushing in upwards of 15-16, which i am very thankful. I am hoping it continues to increase. I have the same set up as u, with the exception of the exhaust. I paid $475 for my exhaust and i am very happy with it. I was so set on buying the Banks Monster Exhaust, but i didnt like the fact it ONLY had a 3 1/2 Dp for the system and i felt it was over priced, even tho it was less than other Stainless steel systems. I would not change a thing. If you want, u can see pictures of my exhaust on my gallery.
Is that mileage empty or pulling that travel trailer I saw in one of your pics? What size tires are you running? How many miles do you have on your truck now? I have 50k.
Well, the Ford dealer just called and they found the problem on my truck, it was a bad fuel pressure regulator. My cost is $106. Not bad IF this fixes the problem.
Jim

I've read some postings where guys were complaining about the shifting of the new 3 speed SCMT. Most of them had the older tuner, which they loved, but went to the new SCMT for more power. They liked the power but not the shifting. Do you have a problem with shifting?
Also, I've heard guys complain that they lost low-end torque with the 4" downpipe. Have you seen this?
I'm at a crossroad here, can't decide whether to buy the 4" exhaust (remember I have a magnaflow muffler and no cat now) or upgrade my SCMT to the tri-mode model. Any suggestions?

This runs counter to my experience with turbos, Jim. While it's true that many normally aspirated engines will lose low-end torque if the pipe is too large (due to loss of exhaust velocity for proper cylinder scavenging), anything that reduces back pressure in a turbocharged engine's exhaust is going to help that engine make power and torque across the board. The only negative effect I have ever seen from a larger down-pipe is somewhat more exhaust noise.

Ken, where did you get the 4" DPPI exhaust? I am also interested (for another project) in the wide exhaust pipe clamps in your pics - can you tell me where you got them? Thanks! Stan
Stan, i got my Exhaust at Innovative Truck Products. Also, i got the band clamos at NAPA. They are the way to go. They seal better and u are able to take the exhaust apart without the joints being crimped. when i saw them, i wasnt going to put any other exhaust clamp on that system. I paid $475 for the aluminized system. Well worth the money and an easy install. Make sure u have a SAWZALL for the removal of the old system
ITP has exhaust systems for the X at attractive prices, but I am willing to support Ken's business if his prices are in line. After all, this forum is more than a little work to keep up with and costs some bucks as well. Now, speaking of exhaust systems, last week Ken wrote, "We've got exhausts as well for a lot less than Banks and we're about to announce a major price drop early next week."
Ken, I just took a look at your website and the prices are the same as last week as far as I can tell. Are you planning to start that sale soon?
The alumized exhausts were added last week. They were previously about $150-200 higher. Downpipe prices are lower too.
They're already been lowered (lower than the previously mentioned site), I just didn't get a chance to announce them ----- been really busy. I have a bunch of systems sitting in boxes waiting to roll out the door so if anyone wants photos let me know!
Yes, all hangers and clamps. Contact me directly with further questions at 770-806-1955 during business hourse, I'm starting to sound like a catalog and its not appropriate for me continue to do so here.
Hi
I have read a couple times on this forum that the 2001 has a 4" exhaust system. I went under my truck and measured with a caliper, my truck is still all stock and it has 3" down pipe and exhaust all the way back with no Cat. but a elephant for a muffler.
Who has a stock 4" exhaust?
