Hey Gigs did you pop in for some of this sun filled Mom Day celebration? Albeit a bit dry. I see you met Scott our Manteeecan (sp?) farm boy.
Ran to Cloverdale this am to grab some tools and I am pooped. Found A`s and Giants both on TV Life is good eh?

Happy Monday Nor Cal FTE and friends. Hope everyone has a great day.

How many welders do we have in the Nor Cal chapter, just out of curiosity? Not talking professional welder, if you can weld even a little bit, then you are a welder in my book.

Thinking about learning how to weld once I get settled into my own place. Don't want to be certified, just know enough to save me some money on my own vehicles from time to time.

I weld alittle Jim , Stick Tig, wire mig, magna flux, then theirs sweat weld and soldering, the problem with having both machines , not enough work to use them, I piddle around with the wire feed because it's light weight and for light welding only anything over 1/4'' and up requires stick like a Lincoln. Don't forget a auto darkening lens for flash. sweat welding is for copper I use Map Gas for this because it burn's Hotter , and Soldering well It's been awhile I have a gun some where in the Garage . I have some weld Gauges when I was learning on Commercial jobs back in the day, the key is to melt the two steel pieces together to make them solid and with art make a nice bead line . Oh Tradesman of all Master of None

I have done soldering in the past and have a gun somewhere in storage, but have not tried any of the other types.

Just got a Mac (rebadged Lincoln) wire feed....previous owner of house was a welder and he has power all over the place to plug into. Just need to find the time to practice, we can learn together Jim. I want to weld a flag pole to existing rv access gate and do some work on my 60 when I get rolling. You do any electric Scott?

Oh yes, howdy all!

I spent my first year and a half of college welding. I'm glad I know how to do it but I certainly don't want to do it for a living.
