My 2002 f250 has quite a bit of play in steering. And I'm looking to eliminate it. Tie rods are tight. Ball joints are good. Etc. I suspect it's the steering box.
Anyways I'm running 35s. Does anyone recommend the redhead steering box? Ive heard a lot of good things and a lot of bad. So I'm confused
Redhead has a good reputation. Have you tried adjusting your current steering box? There is another thread going about steering issues, that has good information.

I have had my Redhead for several years now and yes I highly recommend it. My 02 steers like a new truck. It's a fair amount of work to change a steering gear so might as well put in the best.
I have an e99 and I do have a later pittman arm laying around. Could I use a newer box and that newer pittman arm on it?
Don't quote me on it but it seems like you could as long as the steering shaft portion has the same splines on it. I can't remember if it is strictly the pitman arm piece that has more splines. I want to say I read that guys were switching over to the later steering box when they replaced theirs. Here's the RedHead thread. I don't know if it talks about it in there but it's 26 pages if you want to sift through it:
On line reviews are a pretty good tool. One does have to understand that not everyone will be happy with anything. I check out the reviews and try to figure out if it is an isolated incident or widespread. It's when I read review after review of the same issue(s) that I pay attention to them. That and the ratio of good to bad as well.
No I haven't tried to adjust it. But wouldn't be a bad idea. In just looking to upgrade soon I think if adjustment has no effect
It is definitely worth trying- it helped my Excursion as well as my 96 F150. I figured I was going to have to change the box anyway if it didn't work, and it's been about 2 years since I did mine. Quick, easy and free!
