I have a new injector in a box and a truck in the driveway - both collecting dust. I can find the time to order stuff, but not to install it. Mandatory long hours don't give me more pay (salary), but it stops me from spending money.
I dont even have time to install my mud flaps. Work, sleep, work, sleep, its freaking ground hog day. I'm in for a group buy if someone does the leg work.
I got an email back from Redhead. The discount is a set dollar amount based on how many pieces we buy from them. Everything they sell counts towards the total number of pieces. Hopefully we can get 36 people to buy into this.
Gearbox pricing
5-15 pieces ---- $30 discount on parts over $300. $20 discount on parts under $300.
16-25 pieces ---- $40 discount on parts over $300. $30 discount on parts under $300.
26-35 pieces ---- $50 discount on parts over $300. $40 discount on parts under $300.
36 pieces or more ---- $60 discount on parts over $300. $50 discount on parts under $300
Control Valves and Ram Cylinders will count towards the total number of pieces, but will always have a discount rate of $20.
Core charges are up front and refunded when they receive your core and know that they can rebuild it. ( might be wise not to to your old gearbox before sending it in)
They need a two week notice to prepare for the incoming orders and we will only have a three day window to make the purchase.
I would like to nail down a date with everyone here and then I'll post into the different forum rooms to get more attention for it.
I figure a month from now would be good enough to hopefully get people moving on this. What are your guys thoughts?
FTE has had several Red Head group buys over the years. In fact, the biggest one Red Head has ever had was an FTE GB that started in the Excursion forum. That was back in 2012 though so it's very possible they've had one that sold more units by now.
When you put it together, post several "feeler" threads in a few of the main forums to see what the interest would be.
Drumming up interest and getting people to commit will take a few weeks, but it will also help you nail down your ordering window.
Gonna keep track of everyone here. let me know if you change your mind. I'm thinking this may take until mid July just to nail everyone down on their commitment. We'll see how the dates play out. started posting up to see what the interest is.

Not a bad start for the first day. Including this group here we are at about 10 people.
Think this wold improve the infamously-crappy steering feel on a 2001 Excursion? Mine only has 90k miles but it feels about the same as my prior 310k 2000 Excursion...that being, terrible on-center feel and wander.
