Ok I am pretty sure I know the answer to this but was curious if anybody else might have an idea that I might have overlooked or something.
So I am just finishing rebuilding the 302 in my 88 F150 and just installed it. As I was installing it it was turning great but after I got it all bolted up and tightened I never checked if it would turn or not. A couple days later I put oil in it and went to turn the engine on the harmonic balancer bolt to sort of get the oil flowing through the block and I couldn't turn the engine at all.
I have put the transmission in neutral and left it in park and still can't get it to turn. I am thinking I didn't stab it right does this sound correct?
Is their any other ideas that maybe I can try first before I go through the hassle of stabbing it again this weekend?
Is it possible I ruined anything if I did stab it wrong?
Yep...sounds like the torque converter is not fully seated. I am not a transmission expert but I would think you should be okay once you get it popped in another click or two.
Ya that is what I am hoping.
I am going to pull the trans back enough I can pull the torque convertor off and peak in their and see the seal if that is good put it together if not then I might be rebuilding a C6.

Sure enough was that the torque convertor wasn't fully seated. Removed the engine (was going to do trans then saw all the linkages I didn't want to mess with) set the torque convertor on slid the engine right on in and sure enough it turns with no problem at all.
I did pull the torque convertor off though to check if the seal and the torque convertor was in good shape and I didn't see any damage so hopefully the trans pump is fine.
Thanks for the help guys. That is one step closer to being able to drive my baby again. Over a year is way to long. LOL
