Alright let me start off by saying im no mechanic but I kno my way around a vehicle. Today I took about a 5hr round trip and half way there I notice the driver side front end sticking and when I'd stop at a red light with my foot off the brake I'd go no were then when I'd get going again itd shake the wheel and get bumpy. So I said to my girl did u hot anything when u drove the truck and she say I dont kno mabeeeee? Also that front passenger rotor rim everything got hot I mean way above normal hot. So any ways she went Into a store and I quickly lifted it up and took the wheel off to have a look nothing seems bent or broke but the caliper stayed clamped on there I could move it woth the breaker bar but then I put it all back on and it was fine until I had to real put my foot on the breaks and it did it again. Any help would be awesome. Also my best guess is either warped rotor bad piston/debris in caliper?
A warped rotor usually causes you to feel a shimmy when you apply the brakes. Definitely sounds like a stuck caliper, either bad or debris in it. How warn are the brake pads? When was your last fluid flush?
Break pads now are bad on that one side and I was thinking of a warped rotor but that would be countinouse like today its doing nothing but has a realy worn sound when stopping and I haven't flushed or done breaks since ive had it its all looked good till now

I'm no expert but from my experience you have a bad / sticking caliper. You should consider getting this dealt with as soon as possible. If the rotor is not already shot, it will be shortly. When this happened to one of my previous trucks I replaced both sides, new calipers, rotors, pads and fluid. Brakes are one thing I don't skimp on. It doesn't matter how fast your truck is, how well it goes in snow or how much it will haul if you can't stop in time to miss that minivan.........full of nuns.........on the way to the children's hospital........with cupcakes
agreed with the caliper, on the face of it anyway.
check the pad wear for clues. if the inside pad is more worn, it might be the caliper pistons (replace caliper) if the outside pad is more worn it could be the caliper slides (get a new hardware kit).
if the inside and outside pads are both worn out equally, but more so than the other side of the truck, it could be the hose. if this is the case, I just usually replace the caliper, hardware, and hose. but that's more for the sake of getting it done in one shot rather than a systematic approach.
a hose problem will usually give you problems with pulling away from the side with the bad hose when you step on the brake, and will drag and get hot for a while when you let off the brakes because it can't let the fluid out. this usually does no good for the caliper in the process, which is usually why I just replace everything.
just plan on replacing the rotor. JMO.
based on your symptoms, I'm coming home with new pads, 2 rotors, one complete caliper hardware kit, a tube of silicone based brake lube (silicone based!!!), one hose and one caliper. you can always return what you didn't need. but I'm getting this one done in an afternoon.
Well everybody I appreciate all the help what it was is that the piston in my caliper was split In half some how and I can now save the cupcakes and the nunes because I dot it done today
