97 7.3 tranny problems

hey guys im new to this site but i just bought my 3rd 97 ford f250 hd powerstroke and im having problems with the trans it will not shift smooth its alomost like its partially shiftting into the next gear then down shifts and trys to shift again. this only happens when im kinda getting on it. the truck has 312,xxx on it with a ts 6 position chip and 36 inch tires. the trans is the e40d not sure if its the shift selinoid or what. any advice would be great. and yes the fluid is full and clean no slip codes... not sure if these trucks throw a slip code???....

I would take the chip out and see if it still does it. Welcome to the forum

thanks guys

I put the chip on stock and still having the same problem and the OD light is not on. Also I just noticed that it doesn't shift into OD until 50 mph otherwise it hold 3rd

Has the psom been recalibrated for the larger tires.as in is the speedo correct?

Is it shifting somthing like this?

Mine did this after I put the chip in, I think it has something to do with the tunes on the chip.

Yeah it doesn't matter on mine either. Take the chip out and if that fixes it, then thats the problem.

Putting it in stock isn't taking it out.
Take it out and see what happens.

If the speedo is correct then nm.

Mine gets all confused at wot.....it ain't gonna get any better lol

Ok I'll take the chip out completely tomorrow and see what happens

So I took the chip out and it still does the same thing. Any other ideas would be great

It can set a slip code. The slip code can only set in fourth gear when the converter is supposed to be locked.

Does it do this at every shift, or just certain gears?
