Swapping out injectors for four hole Explorer units
1995 4X4 XLT 5.0
Much research had me finding that the Explorer 4 hole injectors not only have a much improved and finer spray pattern than OEM but because they are physically smaller they don't heat sink as badly for a cooler spray. Quite a bit smaller than the Mustang injectors actually.
Question now is has this community found success with this swap and in what ways did you see improvements?
I have not heard of the swap you are doing but maybe someone has done it. If you NEED to replace the injectors, I would suggest an aftermarket brand, like Siemens. Will warn you though, you may need to tweak your computer a little to handle the different injectors. Thing is...when you change an injector, the computer needs to know the injector high slope, low slope and breakpoint. If any of these are different, you need to adjust the computer.
I'm gonna keep a eye on this one, I would think that the better fuel atomization and spray pattern would be worth it a bit bot much but every penny counts
I got a set of accell injectors in my truck they are the hole design like the explorer injectors. I got them from summit they are 19lb units just like the OEM ones, no computer mods necessary. I put them in with the new engine so not sure exactly how they would improve the engine on their own but they perform great. Also a great price for a set of 8
Take a look at the link in my signature. I don't really think the gains are from the injector design, but rather old dirty injectors and freshly cleaned ones.
