So I own a 1997 7.3 and I'm looking to replace my stock single shot injectors for a set of injectors I found on Craigslist from a 1999 superduty. I was wondering if this is possible to just buy his injectors and do the swap no problems? My truck does have a ts 6 position chip so my truck is tuned to handle the extra gas.
The 99 will have split shot injectors, while the 97 run single shot injectors, unless you have a Cali emissions truck. So no, it is not a simple injector swap.

So then what needs to be done to run superduty injectors into my truck?
^^ pretty much, you have to consider tune,17° hpop or you will get a CEL for lack of oil pressure our 15° pump pumps out, unless yours is a Cali model then it might be an upgrade?
If they are dirt cheap and are actually in good shape (you will have absolutely no way to tell, so don't pay a lot for them) then you can put new O-rings on them and drop them in and the truck will run just fine. Lots of guys with older trucks have done it since newer injectors are generally much more plentiful and have better parts in them so they are generally in better shape than worn out OBS injectors.
If they are from E'99 and are AB codes, PASS on them as fast as you can.
If they are '99.5 AD codes then there's at least a slight chance they are any good.
If you want to install them with the hopes of more power/performance, then there are better ways to go.
I didn't even know they had upgraded single shots, I'll look it to that. From what I heard from other people is that all you needed for a tune to add split shot injectors was a chip. No one ever told me I'd need a new hpop. I'd rather not do that.
If you want big power you will need to upgrade hpop anyway. If high miles yours is prob worn out anyway.
This stuff gets addictive I will tell you that lol
Dzl Jim is the best injector guy! He will fix you up with service second to none.

Check out my website, you have a lot of options for upgrading Single Shots.
You don't HAVE to upgrade anything to run the Split Shots, but you will if you want to optimize what they are capable of.
Like I said you can re-o-ring them and drop them in and they will work for you just fine (as long as they are in good shape.)

My truck only has 150k miles so it's barely even broken in yet.
