Used 2008 f250 KR advice

I'm currently looking at a 2008 king ranch with v10. Issue is the truck is in Missouri and I'm in VA so getting as much information as possible. Physically from the images the truck looks clean with 55k miles. Asking price is 27,990.. I was hoping to get them down some. I was advised there are some scratches on the tailgate, 2 of the rubber moldings on the doors is faded (not sure if that's common), wear in the spray in bed liner, light rust on the undercarriage (not sure if that's a concern or how to define "light rust), one accident on the accident report to rear quarter panel that cant be noticed in pictures. Sound like there is any wiggle room on that price? I can provide pictures also if needed. I'll come back and add some. There is king ranch at same price available in VA with similar miles that I am also investigating but it has the rear captains chairs which I cant stand.

Kelly blue book has it valued for $22k for a long bed and $28k for the short bed. Both of those in "good" condition. Your post didn't say about the bed.

As long as the undercarriage rust is truly surface rust its nothing to worry about.

I don't like wrecked vehicles but maybe the bed was replaced?

Pics always help. Or a link to the sellers add.

IMO, they are $3-4K high right off the bat for the year/miles. The 08 I have I got week before Thanksgiving here in Illinois.. Mine is a 2wd and had 100K miles and was priced at $17K. NADA said $20.5K..

NADA, KBB or Edmunds are starting points for the value of the truck. Keeping in mind that it's a USED 7-8 year old truck so there will be scuffs or scratches that's the nature of used unless you find the one owned by the little old man stored in the garage driven to church on Sunday's.

If you think the truck is worth that or are willing to pay that then it's a good deal. I search for V10's occasionally and they are hard to come by that don't have tons of miles or look like they've been rode hard and put away wet. For a truck engine that nobody wanted because it's such a gas guzzler people sure do keep them for along time, me included (2008 and 268K miles). Power/ reliability of 10 cylinders is just fantastic.

I just paid $23 for an 09 KR f350 CC short bed with 100,000 miles out of Houston. Bought it without seeing in person but had it checked out. Couldn't be happier. You're paying for low mileage at this point. I would have paid $26k-$27k for that one because of mileage. Mine is pretty clean with no rust.

I have a 08 F350 4x4 KR V10 with 90,000 trouble free miles. I wouldn't sell my truck for less than $27,000
They stop making the V10 so as far as i'm concerned the value of our trucks went up in value.

$2x,xxx is a tremendous amount of money.

Financial debt = slavery.

Wise people buy assets, not liabilities.

That seems like a high price for that truck. That's closer to diesel truck pricing.

Dave Ramsey

I am a fan of any/all wisdom, but yes two books transformed my life (regarding finances)- The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey and The Blessed Life by Robert Morris (? I think).

I've had irreplaceable YEARS of my life hampered by poor financial choices. (Like 5 digit debt for a car).

(And 6 digit debt for a home- coulda/shoulda got a home for well under $100,000 instead of my $160,000...)

There is true peace and freedom in avoiding debt. But I suppose a person has to experience the slavery in order to appreciate the freedom...

My Truck and My Home are paid for. I am getting my boat paid off in a few years, then I will be virtually debt free. I also do not have a credit card, I pay everything with Cash or Debit.

I truly envy you, in the best way. I hear your story and it sounds like a person who just won a big lottery… to me, a person with a paid off house, paid off car, and no consumer debt, is one of those things that "never happens to regular people… "

You are blessed.

Curious: how old are you?

Don't get me wrong, this all came about around 18 yrs ago. I got my self in a lot of trouble with CC debt and living way above my means.

I had to decide if I wanted to live my life for the CC companies and a slave to the mortgage and car payments.

I have been in my own successful business for over 25 yrs, and I do real well, but I also spent money like a rockstar. One day I got a call from an old cousin I have not heard from for many years.

He happened to be a financial planner and we got to talking. Long story short, he got me focused on getting debt free and It was not overnight, it took awhile and u have to be dedicated to it.

So the first thing we did 18 yrs ago was to refinance the home down to a very low interest rate and go with a 15 yr mortgage. Then consolidated all my CC debt into one payment which was paid off in 5 yrs.

I threw out every CC I owned, and started putting all the money that went towards paying off my mortgage and CC into a Roth IRA account. When I purchase a New Vehicle I set the payments up so that it is paid off in 3 yrs no longer.

I can only do that now because I have eliminated so much wasted money on CC interest and heavy mortgage payments. This is something that does not happen overnight, and it takes dedication on your part.

Trust me I am not Blessed, nor anyone special, I was just sick of working so hard and getting nowhere. Good Luck to U

Oh yeah I am 55 yrs old.

I'll continue paying off two masters and one doctorate degrees for a long time. But they're now in a position to pay my final retirement home fees - when necessary.

I would love to have an 08 King Ranch, but I wouldn't go that much for one.
