Bit the bullet and bought a new chrome bumper from JBG. There ended up being a small defect in the chrome but I didn't notice it for 3 months and it was past the return period. JBG wouldn't get back to me about helping out anyhow. Its not that noticeable and its a huge improvement over the old bumper that was completely rusted.
As far as the spray chrome though, I ended up buying "Spax Stix" spray chrome in a small spray can. I used it on my headliner chrome trim. Yes, it's not even close to actual chrome and gives only a slight reflection. However, because of where those trim pieces are located, I think it looks damn good and gave me the result I needed. The stuff is expensive, but not as expensive as new headliner trim. Happy with the result on the pieces, but would never buy the stuff to use on anything that really catches your eye.
I tried the powder coated spray on chrome on a couple of door sills, they looked better but I thought it was a waste of money, and sometimes it will kind of go white in spots if it isn’t done perfectly.
I would have tried it on my door sills if I had any spray left after the headliner trim. On my sills I used a gloss aluminum color that I thought matched the original appearance pretty well. I'll have to put up a picture of that too.
