Auxiliary Shock (Duals): Same both sides, correct?
Just ordered a set of six Pro Comp 9000 Shocks for our '85 F150, and was checking the part numbers on the slip to make sure the local shop ordered the right parts. Funny thing: On the Summit Racing website, Part # EXP919510 is shown to fit: 1.) Drivers side Front, Forward position of Quad setup.... and 2.) Passenger side Front, REARWARD position of Quads. That doesn't make sense to me, thinking it must be a misprint. The front (Aux) shock in the quad setup is the same on both sides.... correct?
Check another site, like the folks that make shocks. Monroe would be my recommendation, and IIRC they shipped me a pair ahead of the axle and a different number behind.
Well, that's talking to an aftermarket parts supplier to whom you are giving money... one who I would guess would tell you anything you want to hear in order to get it.....
I'm sure he does. And I'll bet it is the shock towers as he scored a pair of them for his truck. But, the shocks don't vary from side to side, just front/rear.
Did you notice that the catalog lists the shocks ahead of the axle from 80 - 86, but behind the axle on 80 - 83? There's no reference anywhere of those aft of the axle from 84 - 86. I'm betting its another catalog glitch.
So, my memory is better than yours? You are in serious trouble.
As a previous owner of said options, they ARE different for/aft of the axle. But not L/R . Even different lengths.
Yep. When we showed up in your driveway two plus years ago we were enjoying a new set of 6 Sensatracs that had transformed the ride of Dad's truck. In fact, it rode much better with quads up front than Rusty does with just a pair of shocks.
