I have an original 56 F100 272 Y-block. I'm trying to find the original style spark plug wires and coolant hoses, clamps, battery, fuel pump rebuild kit, fuel line pump to carb. Any ideas where or what ones. I found some at Dennis carpenter but they offer a few and they told me they wernt sure which were the original style
I should not be one to tell others what a Y-block should look like as mine is a mess. You need to by a dealer catalog or other original Ford truck literature. Or buy the "Ford Y-Block: How to Repair and Rebuild the 54-6? OHV" by James Eickman. It is out of print but look on Amazon or ebay. Search the net for examples of original engines.
They do reproduce the spark plug wire looms. I do see vintage radiator clamps for sale. I am not sure which ones Ford used. You do need the radiator pipe elbow. If you have an old one as a model a muffler shop could bend one for you.
I have a mandrel tube bender in my shop. But the hose that is now on the truck is the way I bought it. I know the ripple hose isn't correct. But I didn't know the upper hose had a steel section like the flat heads.
Here is a pic of my dirty engine compartment... I don't know if it helps you any but my radiator elbow is original and of course the color is not correct.
There are repro script batteries made, New Castle battery makes (or made) a group 29N "Power Punch" that may be what your truck came with? They sell "Sta-Full" and all the other period correct batts too. They are called Axxion now, still in PA I think.
